Emancipation Day

Happy Emancipation Day (in D.C.)

April 16 is recognized in, D.C., as Emancipation Proclamation day.

In researching for this article I found out some interesting facts that I'd like to share with you all.

- Texas (Juneteenth , June 19th) and Florida (May 20th, but it's an unofficial) are the other two states that have a celebration marking the Emancipation of Slaves.

- Many West Indian countries including the Bahamas, Bermuda, Trinidad and Tobago and Turks and Caicos Celebrate an Emancipation Day.

- The April 16th 1862 Emancipation of the slaves in D.C. was the only one in which Slave owners were compensated for setting slaves free.

- Lincoln didn't use his initial powers as President to conduct the Emancipation, he used his war powers of "
Commander and Chief of the Army and Navy" as the tool to Emancipate.

You can check out more Emancipation
Proclamation Facts Here or Here or you can check your local Wikipedia listings...

I must say I've taken a lot of history courses in High School and College, and NEVER was I taught or quizzed on anything involving the actual Emancipation of the Slaves.

All that was EVER said was "The Document and Lincoln Freed the Slaves"... that statement is not entirely true and I advise people to take a further look into...

Lebron has the Sole of a Yankee

So, he might be born, raised and played his whole life in Cleveland.

But the King ( or prince) has I Love New York surrounding him.

He's good friends with the King of New York (Jay-Z), is so much of a Yankee fan that he even wore a Yankee fitted while in the stands at last years Indians vs Yankees playoff game. Oh and word has it, that's his favorite city. Oh and did I mention he's a free agent at the end of the year?????

Well for the second time, Nike and Lebron have dro
pped a New York themed shoe. The first time was only 225 pairs at a pop up Nike Store in Soho of the Lebron Zoom IV. This time around it's a Yankee inspired (pinstripes and all) Lebron Zoom V.

Maybe it's all conspiracy theory, or Nike knows that the New York market is one (if not) the biggest for selling kicks. Oh and the Yankees sell more merchandise than any other baseball franchise. So they're going after that $$$$$$$$. Smart move Nike Marketing.

What do you think????,

Mr. Talented

I'm feeling them though, especially the "Fresh for 08 Suckers!" ..

Political Mess....."Who Let the Dogs Out"

Now, I haven't been keeping up with the Political Race as much as I should. However, it's been getting more and more racially intensified.

So with that here are two different clips this week.

1. Barack was asked if he thought "Bill Clinton was the first Black President?"
I like his response because first he answers the question, then he closes it with on a lighter side, joking at the end.

2. WTF was Mitt Romney thinking. Well, he thought he was being cool. He wasn't, but it sure is funny to see. 2 things to listen to:
a. "Who Let the Dogs out, woof woof"
b. While looking at a toddler, "I see you got your bling bling on"

Hilarious....Priceless
oh these candidates....

Mr. Talented
p.s.
John McCain voted against Martin Luther King Day as a National Holiday... not once, not twice, BUT THREE TIMES ... Damn

Rick Ross on the Sean Taylor incident

So, as I was checking through the aftermath of the Sean Taylor death (R.I.P. so tragic)...

I came across an article in which Rick Ross chimed in on the subject.

I respect Rick Ross alot, and his presence makes me concur with lots of statements that he makes.

During the discussion, comes his stance on how Sean Taylor, because of previous situations, was underprepared for the situation. As Ross states:

"You know he had to take a little heat for the past situation and he felt like he couldn't have that in his possession."

In essence he's almost blaming Taylor's inability to use "tools" necessary to defend himself and his family because of the media scrutiny th
at came while he had the necessary "tools".

My take is that Rick Ross is speaking on the
naivety of the media, fans, and public about people that are from or live in certain places.

The incident comes from the first time Taylor defended himself from a "robbery" and the "tool" that was found at that moment.

So the same thing he was once chastised for having, could've saved his life.

I think it was a death that could have been avoided by many different measures, however, we don't know Taylor's full life and what people saw about him to try and get to him in particular. But, Stars/Athletes/Entertainers are like everyone else and need ways to protect themselves against others that try to "touch" them. As Ross says:
"You know he had the previous charges and whatever and he couldn't have one (a gun). That's just it though, you got to protect your life and your family. Anybody out here reading this...I'm sorry that's just my stance on it."
But what do you think.???

are athletes who keep "tools" to protect themselves in the wrong????

Scoring Machine

He's Scoring, Scoring, Scoring...da da.. he's a Scoring Machine...

He's almost automatic, especially from 3pt.

His scoring to minutes ratio is almost one to one.

He's a beast and a walk on freshman. Who might you ask??

Conner Teahan

The Freshman from the number 2 Kansas Jayhawks. He's like a mini celeb now, he has 4 Facebook groups ( my favorite Your Damn Straight I Love Conner Teahan!), and has clips of him scoring on youtube.

At one point he was shooting 80% from behind the arc (8-10) and my favorite stat in 44 minutes he had 45 points.

don't believe me, here's what the coach and media have to say about him

Teammates won't even play H-O-R-S-E with him.

Imagine when he starts gettin real minutes...
We'll have to change his nickname to "Buckets"

Some Good, Some Bad and Some Ugly (who said Don King)

A- Trinidad has never fought at 170

B- RJJ aka Roy Jones Jr. bka Y'all Must've forgot (his song), is nice but still has that questionable chin.

C- Rick Ross is brining out Roy Jones, however Pastor Troy's camp put out a press release saying that P.T. was bringing Jones out?

D- Both Roy Jones and Felix Trinidad are giving $50,000 a piece from tonights fight to the

"Susan G. Komen for the Cure, the world's largest gras
sroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists, to help educate and raise awareness regarding the deadly disease."

E- Roy Jones is trying to raise $1million for Breast Cancer Research and the Cure

F- Is this a fight of aged, old fighters???

Personally, I think not, but some people seem to...

G- So what do you think ??????

Jones in like 6 or 7 rounds

For me, I'll be at Love night club in D.C. watching the fight...holla at me... here is the flyer

Me watching my favorite Women

So, I finally got to see some of my favorite women in person.

No not Alicia Keys, or Laura London ( that will come later aka "there's a meeting in my bedroom, bedroom, bedroom)...

I am talking about the Lady Terrapins of The University of Maryland.

I went to their Historic (first home win against duke in ten years and my first wms game there) win against the Lady Blue Devils of Duke.

I loved it.
And DAMN... Marissa Coleman came to ball...she did it all, post moves, played the point, hitting 3's and was real smooth all game. Like George Gervin Smooth, like Baby Oil smooth. She dropped 30 on them.

The game was great and the atmosphere in the arena was electric. They really gave the fans a great time....

They use a lot of video of the team to motivate the crowd and it worked like a charm.
Here are the pics

I think I'll go to another game very soon....

Job Posting

What up What up,

So to those that just wanted a lil bit of extra cash to get others (santa's helpers) or get themselves (selfish asses) something extra for Christmas... there is a temp job open. It'll be for the next ten or so days, as a Fossil Rep (the watch company).

You'd be working at Springfield Mall in Springfield, Virginia. You won't be completing the transaction, just a person who's constantly informing and persuading to the Fossil watches. The pay (most important part) is about $10 hr and the day lasts around 8hrs. So you won't be making an obscene amount, but it'll give extra cash for those special gifts.

It won't be nothing hard and you'll be working with a cool ass person (Me). So send me an email at campustvonline@gmail.com , or comment on here with your email address and number, and I'll get back to you.

Get that Money,

What's Love Got to Do With It.......R.I.P Ike Turner

R.I.P...... Ike Wister Turner
As most of you might (or might not have heard), Ike Turner has passed away. He was 76 years old.
If you are like me (born into the 80's), you might only know Ike Turner as the Man who Slapped the Hell out of Tina Turner. As Big said
"Beating Motherf&%ckers like Ike beat Tina
What's Love Got to Do, Got to Do"
The movie, that was an adaptation from Tina Turner's (Anna Mae Bullock, wtf...her name is not Tina) autobiography (I, Tina), What's Love Got To Do With It? (1993) depicted Ike as a drunk, drug addicted, obsessed and abusive spouse. Ike took Tina in the ambulance after Tina tries to commit suicide;
"If you don't make it I'll kill you, you hear me b***h, I'll kill you"
The movie was a hit (Angela Basset did her thang), Ike's reputation was thrown under the bus and women had a story of struggle and triumph to relate to.

The man not depicted in the movie was a musical genius (a pianist, guitarist and showman who created songs that carried blues into a new era) and one of a very few men who is debated as the Creator of Rock n Roll. His hit "Rocket 88", in 1951 by his band, is argued as the first "Rock n Roll" record.

Later his life saw triumph, failure, jail time, drug addiction, redemption and recognition. He is inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame (1991) and earlier this year (2007) he won his first Solo Grammy.

The man has many synonyms that can be used, however he will forever go down as the ultimate in Spousal Abuse (O.J. comes close, but Ike admitted it and did it repeatedly).

R.I.P. Ike

Is It Better to Have Loved and Lost?? part 1

So we have all heard the quote,
"It is better to have loved and lost, than to never have loved at all".
But is that true?
How often has one loved, lost and felt good about it?

So I have this question.

If you send a text message and don't get a reply, does your Ex-Girlfriend still smile when she gets it?

So the other day, I sent a text message over to an Ex of mine.
It was nothing overt, no "I love you", not even a "Hi". It said a phrase that she made when we were dating, I just wanted to let her know that I remembered something. And after sending it, I didn't get a reply.
It wasn't all on my mind (yea it was), but I wondered what she felt about it?

Did she check it out?

Did she get it and Smile?

That's what I wanted to know, that's what the goal was.

Questions that need to be answered:
Did she Smile?
Does she still think about me?
What has she been doing?
How does she feel about me?

It got me feeling like Bryan McKnight
"Do I ever cross your mind anytime"
Maybe I'm just stuck, (we will discuss oneitis later),
or maybe I have some thoughts regarding past relationships that some of you do?...

Let Me Know.., don't tell me I'm all by myself....

Mr. Talented

p.s.,... I leave ya'll with L.L.
"When I'm alone in my room sometimes I stare at the wall
and in the back of my mind I hear my conscience call
Telling me I need a girl who's as sweet as a dove
for the first time in my life, I see I need love"

Like Louboutins With the RED Bottoms

"I am so Dope, Like Louboutins with the red bottoms.."

The King of Hip Hop, Jay-Z (sorry Weezy),
name drops one of the highly sought after shoe and handbag designers for the second time.

The first came in the much anticipated but doomed from the start "Best of Both
Worlds" album in 2002. Jay stated.

"Oh her shoe game is real,
She gave em' the Christian Louboutins with the four inch heel"

His collections stem from the belief that
;
"Women express themselves through their shoes"

His style has created shoes that women adore and that take designs to the max. If you have between $500 to $2000 to spend on exclusive, beautifully made and obsessed over (did I mention red bottom) shoes, ladies this is the spot.

His shoes have been on the feet of beautiful women such as Nicole Kidman, Gwyneth Paltrow, Halle Berry and Salma Hayek. You can check him out at his 2 boutiques in New York, Neiman Marcus, Barney's and other select stores. Or you can see them online here...Check em

Study up for them Finals,
