Del State Homecoming
This is from a friend of mine:
"Over the weekend I went to Delaware State University’s Homecoming.
On Friday, October 19th, they had a concert that featured J. Holiday,
Swizz Beatz ,
and Lil Wayne (weezy f. baby) .
T.I. might not have been in the building as initially planned but you could definitely feel the love everyone in the building had for him. Whether it was by wearing a “Free T.I.P” t-shirt or the artists showing him love by shouting him out during their performance.
Despite the late start the concert was a big success and everyone there had a good time rocking with the artists and DJ Nix in the Mix, who definitely kept the crowd rocking during each act.

On Saturday, October 20th, DSU had their homecoming game where they took on the Morgan State Bears.
When it was all said and done the DSU Hornets sent the Bears home with a lost. They won the game 25-17.
And they ended Homecoming weekend with a party hosted by DJ Nix in the Mix, who shut it down for a second night in a row. He definitely held it down for Jersey."
thanks Ash....

BET HIP HOP AWARDS:
Seemed to be a lot of respect in the crowd, everyone was ready to party and hit the afterparty, a lot of acts went on stage and gave pretty good performances,
The Telepromoting has to be better. It was just lame. Were all the rappers high or drunk?? And the Nelly performance, I don't like the no radio play, but i'ma do two singles NO ONE HEARD OF
Lauren London and Kerry Washington, I need one of you two to stay single cause i need a wife
Good...Bad...Ugly...
Black People love to party...no need to have party rooms. From the opening act the crowd was ready to party...the acts showed the many aspects of hip hop...Kanye, Lil Wayne, Common, Wyclef, and Soulja Boy (who's song got a encore)
T.I. or T.I.P... was absent ....
Terrance of 106 and Park is officially ANNOYING... Sandman please come and remove him from the stage. Good thing I don't watch BET all day.
Extra Extra
Free Mike Vick by David Banner...I guess it's a southern thang...He "might" have killed dogs, he's not a monster or menace to society, he's gonna do his time like a man and without callin anyone out
Kanye tries to give an award back...(bout damn time)
Did anyone else's BET stall for like 10 mins...I was in Maryland, S. Dot in ATL and we both had the same thing
Speaking of BET....I normally don't like or watch too much of the programming (holla if you feel me) but Sunday best is the only new show that I like...
Praise the Lord...

South Florida at Rutgers

Rutgers Upset the Bulls 30-27

Trick Plays/Special Teams, Defense and Ray Rice:
Fake Punt, Fake Field Goal, 2 Punt Fumbles, 2 Blocked Punts, 2 Late hit penalties, 7 Sacks and 181yds from the Heisman Hopeful.
My second favorite Rice (Jerry's my boy )

...if your under 200 get ready to get ran overAfter initial slaps on the wrists, South Florida slaps rutgers across the face firstFrom the first play, Rutgers and Ray Rice was ready...
running the ball, and opening up the play action... For the second year in a row rutgers has ended someone's special season...and this year one up on last year...taking out the number 2 team in the nation. For the second year in a row Piscataway/New Bruinswick, Nj is all drinking, partying and sex tonight

......hmmm...In south Florida (really in west central Florida) the Bulls stadium was filled (like 200) with students and fans.
Extras:
...Did anyone else have an issue with the Equipment Manager announcing the starters??? I did. I understand that the introduction of players on t.v. is not the most important part of the game, however i think the way they went about it yesterday was not rightI have nothing against the equipment managers, but please. People want a grand introduction, from a player, celebrity or announcer. Not face time for the equipment manager. What happened, no one else wanted to do it. I liked when they had celebrity alums, i like when they have the players. But please, No to the equipment managers... Can someone get me a towel

And just to let everyone know. There is some confusion about these Nike "WHAT THE DUNK" sneakers which will be one of the rarest and most expensive sneaker later on in history (I believe). Is not part of any NIKE delivery and will be exclusively released in special locations as part of a tour by NIKE called the "Nothing but Truth Tour" for the DVD, as of now. If you want them now you can get them on eBay for a couple G's, but I will keep you posted on any new info.

Pastry sneakers
Well, I know I've been leaving you fashion stranded for a lil while. Don't get all crazy, "I'm Back!!!". So today I wanted to share some of my opinions on the Pastry Footwear line.

By the smart and beautiful, (you can guess who's who...just joking) Vanessa and Angela Simmons (ya'll know who they are)
Now I think they are both wonderful girls and you gotta like that they have both creativity and business sense. However, (and i must say HOWEVER) I am not their biggest fan. I love food, but not on my feet. They get creativity points for the concept, but not my fancy.

On the positive the girls seem to be a success, selling lots of shoes (apparently more than all of run athletics)...$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Maybe I'll break out of my shell and get me some cupcake...

Until then, I'll be watching the cooking show from a distance

Y2K - 10/2/07
I'd like to welcome you all to the best month...with that said, I'd like to share a horrible story with you all...
Thinking that the Jena 6 situation was bad look at this story
Two things stick out... 1. What they put this woman through and the racism behind it.
and 2. It took American News sources almost two weeks to publish this story, however they'll update us on Iraq every hour... I think there needs to be a change
The Associated Press
LOGAN, West Virginia: The list of horrors allegedly endured by a woman at the hands of six people in a remote trailer grew during the suspects' court hearings — leaving the woman's mother sobbing.
Reading Tuesday from a statement 20-year-old Megan Williams gave deputies the day she was rescued from the ramshackle home, a sheriff's deputy said she had been stabbed with what she described as a butcher knife and beaten with wooden sticks and fly swatters.
She said she was sexually assaulted, doused with hot water, forced to eat animal feces, and taunted with racial slurs. Among the new allegations, she said hot wax was poured on her, and that two of her captors forced her to drink a cup of their urine.
Carmen Williams, the victim's mother, left the preliminary hearing of one of the defendants in tears Tuesday after listening to what her daughter allegedly experienced.
Charges against most of the six suspects were upgraded Tuesday. All six, who are white, now face charges of kidnapping, which carries a maximum life sentence. Four of the defendants had faced lesser charges before Tuesday's filings.
Megan Williams' statement said the defendants told her they did not like black people and that they were going to hang her, though no hate crime charges were filed.
"They told me if I tried to get out they was going to hit me and stuff. I was scared of them," Logan County Sheriff's Deputy Jeffrey Robinette read from Williams' statement.
Some of Williams' supporters have urged the state to file hate crime counts. Prosecutors have not ruled out such a move, but have said they are focused on crimes with the toughest penalties and note that the maximum sentence for a hate crime is just 10 years.
The Associated Press generally does not identify suspected victims of sexual assault, but Williams and her mother agreed to release her name. Carmen Williams said she wanted people to know what her daughter had endured.
Megan Williams' ordeal ended when an anonymous tip led police to the home Sept. 8. Deputies are still trying to determine how long Williams was held.
Kidnapping and sexual assault charges, along with additional counts of battery, were filed against Karen Burton, 46; her daughter, Alisha Burton, 23; and George A. Messer, 27, all of Chapmanville. They also face additional counts of battery.
Danny J. Combs, 20, of Harts, now faces a kidnapping charge that carries life in prison. He originally was charged with sexual assault and malicious wounding. Prosecutors added two more sexual assault charges, which each carry a maximum of 35 years in prison.
Three counts of misdemeanor battery were added to the charges against Frankie Brewster, who owns the home where the suspected assault took place. She also is charged with kidnapping, first-degree sexual assault and giving false information to police. An unlawful malicious wounding charge was dropped.
In a statement to deputies, Brewster detailed her role and implicated others, saying "I just want to come clean." Brewster also is accused of forcing Williams to perform oral sex on her.
A sixth defendant, Bobby Brewster, 24, who is the son of Frankie Brewster, is charged with kidnapping, sexual assault, malicious wounding and assault during the commission of a felony. Police have said he had a previous relationship with Williams.
Williams said in her statement Tuesday that she was raped at knifepoint by Combs in the trailer's bathroom, tied with a cable cord and choked by Karen Burton, doused with hot wax by Messer, and stabbed by Bobby Brewster.
Sheriff's Deputy Rick Goodman testified Tuesday that Brewster told deputies that the six defendants were afraid to let Williams go because she might tell on them. They also talked about killing her.
Karen Burton, who was arraigned by video teleconference from jail, said, "Oh, hell no," when informed of the sexual assault charge against her. The other defendants said only "yes, sir" and "no, sir" during their arraignments.
In another courtroom Tuesday, Megan Williams answered outstanding warrants from three counties charging her with crimes involving worthless checks. She was released on US$8,000 (€5,770) bond.
Williams, who clutched a small teddy bear in court, was wearing a brace on her right hand and a bandage on her left ankle. She was accompanied by her parents, and her mother held her through portions of the proceeding. Williams' mother also accompanied her during a brief period in a holding cell.
Hearings on the charges will be held in each county. Williams' father, Matthew, told Magistrate Ward Harshbarger, "She'll be there."
