CTVO News

In todays NEWS at 10.

..Our top headlines include Jay-Z, November Nike SB Releases, Bo Jackson, Sidekicks, Nooka, and the new Maybach.

Our first story pertains to the November Nike SB releases which should all be in the store now.

Nike SB November 2007 ReleasesNike SB November 2007 ReleasesNike SB November 2007 ReleasesNike SB November 2007 ReleasesNike SB November 2007 ReleasesNike SB November 2007 Releases

And many more...like the Skate Mental's...and the Miami Blazers. So check your local skate shop.

Also on the topic of sneakers we also have a pack that has been doing very well in store. Bo Jackson is known in the sports world as a spectacular athlete that played in two professional sports leagues (NFL and MLB). His reign in the sports world was taken away by a injury, but will be forever known though underrated. In the 90s he was immortalized by the "Bo Knows" campaign for the cross trainers that Nike made for him. Now the same inspiration they used for his cross trainers are being used again in the Bo Jackson Dunk collection. Here are some pics of them....

Nike “Bo Jackson” Dunk High Pack

Each shoe colors and materials are inspired by the colors of the past cross-trainers, the workout equipment he used, and multi sport uses.

Now we will go to our field reporter who will cover some new gadgets.
Nooka has came out with a couple "Noo(New)"watches that I think look great, inventive, and a great new way to look at time.I mean I was already a fan of theres, but I think I am touching on stalker status. Time is no longer boring and here is why....

new Nooka watch
Nooka Zirc (White, Black, Silver) available sometime in November...

ZEN-H (Black, White, Grey, Metal, Blue) some available now...other sometime in November

Also we took a look at the two new sidekicks the Sidekick LX and the Sidekick Slide...

http://cache.gizmodo.com/assets/resources/2007/09/Sidekicks_sidebyside.jpg
The LX(the blue one) was released at the beginning of this month though the release party was the end of last month. The biggest improvement from the Sidekick 3 is the MMS feature, so no more emailing pictures to peoples phone; also the screen is much bigger but so is the phone.
The Slide(the black&purple one) supposed to be released on the 20th of this month, but has hit the streets already(shit I could have had it). It has exactly the same features as the LX, but it is made by Motorola rather than Sharp. The screen is the same size as the Sidekick 3, but it is much more compact and slides up rather than around. So you can have an idea of the size of it, it is the size of a IPhone. There has not been any bugs or recalls reported on the LX, and I expect the same and better from the Motorola Sidekick Slide.

Now for our feature story Jay-Z and his partners bought the British streetwear company Artful Dodger for 15 Million. And released the following statement...
The image “http://concreteloop.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/11/jayzblack1.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.
"Artful Dodger is an incredible brand with a lot of room for growth and Scott Langton is a visionary designer. They represent what's next and new in fashion and we are glad to have both the brand and Scott as a part of our family."
His business partners Iconix Brand Group Inc. last week under the company name Scion(a joint venture between the two parties), also bought Jay-Z's "Rocawear" Clothing label earlier this year for $204m in cash.

Also on the topic of Jay-Z you may have seen this convertible Maybach in his recent video...

Thats the news at 10...tune in next week when who knows what the headlines may be.

Forget Who’s Number 2, Who’s Number 1?

Hey Sports Fans,

If I needed any more fuel for my BCS fire.
Yeah, LSU and Oregon are the two “hot” teams right now, but are they the best?
Do they follow the same formula they used earlier in the year?

No and no.

The two best teams in the country are LSU and Oklahoma. The formula voters have used this year has been – it doesn’t matter if they suck, if they’re undefeated in a major conference, we’ll rank them as high as they can be (see South Florida, Boston College, and Ohio State). Kansas should be #1, LSU has the most impressive resume among the one-loss teams, and should be #2.

Kansas is the wild-card this year. They play Missouri in two weeks, and if they win that game, they play Oklahoma the following week. If they win those two games, how could they be left out? In favor of Oregon, who lost at home to Cal? I think NOT.

What’s the difference between Kansas and those other three teams, who everyone though sucked, but ranked high anyway because they were in major conferences? Kansas deserves some fuckin respect for at least making it this far undefeated, in the Big 12.

See you this weekend

As I Am...review

Hey, It's ya girl Ash here to fill you on the hottest album of November (sorry Hov)

For all you Alicia Keys fans the wait is finally over!!!!

Ms. Keys has finally dropped her long awaited third album entitled As I Am (released Nov.13th).

I tend to be a little biased when it comes to Alicia Keys because I’m a die-hard fan and love everything she puts out. Mainly because it’s original and all her own. But for those of ya’ll who may have been sleeping on her you need to go out and cop this album, it’s her best work yet.

You can definitely expect the unexpected from this album," Keys admitted. "It's different. It has a new energy. It has a new feeling. It has like more of aggression to it. I've learned a lot this year and I've been through a lot. So I think that I've grown as a person. You definitely feel it. You hear it in the sound of it. You hear it in the passion in my voice. You hear it all the way around the board.”---Alicia Keys

You get a balance of slow and fast tracks on this album.

Her two current singles “No One” and “Like You’ll Never See Me Again(just released) continue to blow up the air waves. And they are just a taste of the hard work she’s been putting in, in the studio. You have to love how she mixes her classic piano style with a taste of R&B (new and old).

Other singles to look out for are “Lessons Learned”, “Wreckless Love”, “The Thing About Love”, “Superwoman” and “Sure Looks Good to Me.”

If you only buy one album (no bootlegs) this fourth quarter get Alicia Keys’, As I Am.

It’s a classic. It’s energetic. And Ms. Keys lets it be known that’s it’s aight to be yourself and express your feelings. If you don’t feel something when you listen to this album there’s DEFINITELY something wrong with you…..

For those of you that haven’t seen this yet. You need to check out “Like You’ll Never See Me Again”

Till the next review,

Ash

The Evolution (fashion) of Alicia Keys

Hey Everyone,

As we all know Alicia Keys' Album, As I Am, comes out tomorrow ("if ya don't know, now ya know") and what better way to celebrate than to talk about the evolution of her style.

Like the growth that can be heard in her music, you can see the style growth in her fashion. More dresses and pants, less jeans and t-shirts. Either look, she has always been fabulous (i know how to spell).

See the Evolution

When she was fresh to the music biz, she had a real tom-boyish style. Don't get me wrong, it was tom-boy, but still real cute. Almost ghetto fab with the cornrows goin back and beads at the ends.
Keys had an Aaliyah (r.i.p) style going on there.
(the fully dressed and still sexy)

Now she has the sophisticated look going on mixed with a funky, eclectic style. At all the awards shows, she's in form complimenting dresses, heels and no longer has the cornrows.

She has such a grown up style, I Love It. A++

Before I go, don't forget to buy As I Am (not the bootleg).

Day 6.... The Columbia students who are on "Hunger Strike" mean business. The five is, for the moment, down to four (one member had to be rushed to the hospital). However, the attention and showcase of peaceful demonstration is gaining a strong, vocal following. The student group behind this, has organized ways to support them.

Here is a statement sent via their Fa
cebook group message:
"Other ways you can support include signing our petition if you have not done so already (http://www.petitiononline.com/kwzchen/petition.html), coming out to our vigils, which are held every night at 9pm at the Sundial, donating water, blankets, pillows, sleeping bags or flashlights, and telling all your friends, listeners and professors about the strike and the demands."
The students on campus have been participating in events for the "Hunger Strike", including Marching to Lee Bollinger's (President of Columbia) house, Candle light Vigils, a growing Facebook group, the support of Faculty, and the biggest...setting up Negotiations with the schools hierarchy

here are some pictures of the scene around campus below:

"Beauty and a Baller"

The NCAA Women's Basketball Season starts with some wonderful matches.
A double header in North Carolina at the State Farm Classic. The Lady Tar Heels(#7) against Arizona St. (#12) followed by Oklahoma (#8) vs. U of Maryland (#4).

So I thought I'd take this time out to mention some ladies that I consider to be both a "Beauty and a Baller". Now, this is MY opinion, so IDGAF what YOU think.

And now to the athletes:

<-------------Ms. Parker
Candace Parker
The defending National Champ has her eyes set on a encore season. Pre-Season Player of the Year and the most exciting player to watch on the Womens side. She can dunk on you during a fast break or half court set. So watch out below!!
People Magazine's 100 Most beautiful People, (2007).

The Precious Point----------->
Renee Montgomery
Playing under the National Power house at UConn.
This phenomenal Floor General leads a team that can win it all.
In the State the 50 runs (CT), Renee is like money in the bank.

<-----From Maryland with Love
Kristi Toliver
Two years ago as a freshman, she stole my heart and Duke's chance at a National Title with what is known around Maryland as "The Shot". On a Maryland team that has firepower to return the title to College Park.

The Southern Belle------->
Sabrina Gregory
Returning to the UNC Charlotte 49ers for a run at the A-10 title.
The Senior led the team in Points, Assists and steals last year.
This Belle is looking to take her team to the big dance this year.
She's also 54 pts shy of 1,000 for her career.

<----From My NEC of the Woods
Shanay Freeman
Playing in the North East Conference (NEC), this guard is the defensive leader on a trapping defense. Like the energizer bunny while in the game, she is continually moving, scrapping and getting steals. With a new coach in town, she'll be the one they lean on to keep the team "going and going".

Many of the female student athletes are beautiful women, inside and out (besides what Imus and his boys think). So check out the games this season...
I'll be watching..lol

Mr. Talented

p.s....who do you think i missed???

Hey Nneka

Hey Everyone,

For all the ladies again (lol), there is this new designer <-------------Nneka Hurley.

This designer in my eyes has a real, natural talent.

She creates these beautiful handbags, and I really like her clutches.

The bags are not expensive and they are cute, sleek, and stylish. My personal favorite is the one with bright colors because it is different from what we see other women wearing. But, tell me your opinion. Let me know.

Check her out at http://www.myspace.com/bagsbynneka.

80>20 Rule

Are you down: 80/ 20 rule-?

People always think and wonder about what life brings them. You go through so much but for what reason exactly?
You start asking yourself all types of questions like why can’t I pass this damn test, or where did Hell did all my Money go to so fast when I just got paid last week, and many more.

Lately, the biggest questions being asked are about a boyfriend/girlfriend or about that person you have a crush on. You have girls are asking questions like:

“where are all if any good men go”

“why is he doing this and that to me if he’s suppose to love me”

“Why can’t I just find the right one for me?”.

Then there are the guys, asking questions like,

“Why are you always nagging me?”

“Why are you getting so emotional?”

There’s so much that a girl or guy wants, but seem to never find or get what they want.

Some Saturdays’ ago, I went to go see, “Why did I get married,” and found myself relating to certain parts and happenings from the movie.

If you have not seen it yet, go for yourself or for your girlfriend/boyfriend. It'll shed some light onto issues that present themselves in relationships, it'll be good for you both. Out of all the themes, issues, and guidance that the movie gives, the biggest one for me was the 80/20 Rule.

Let’s break it down this 80/20 rule
….

In relationships, you will only get about 80% of what you want and need. That 80 can be a variety of things. It can be what you have now, or what you might have just ended your relationship with, or even what you just want. The question you need to ask
yourself is, do I have it? or not at all?. The problem is that it’s usually after the break up where one may realize that they were really getting that 80% but just didn’t realize it. After being single for a little while, you may come across another male or female who might seem like they are the one (AT FIRST) for you. It is then that you realize that this new person is only giving you 20% of what you really want, and that you left 80% behind.

I’m not saying stay and wait forever to find out if you’re getting that 80%, but just think real hard about what you’re not getting. If there is more good than bad, that should tell you something. If there are more happy than sad times should also make you think about things. So take it is, think a little, and don’t stress yourself. That one is out there. Just let it come to you. I leave you with this African Proverb, "When searching for your mate look with both eyes, so you can look for exactly what you want. When you find that person, close one eye". In other words, after you decide that you've found that person, understand that you will need to compromise and not dwell on the 20% of things that might upset you.

Rule for the day...80>20....

(Survey)

So……have you found your 80?

  1. Yes

  1. No

  1. Not sure

please comment....

it's ya boy
