Ladies, Running In Place Won't Get You Far

Ladies, Running In Place Won't Get You Far

Every Monday is National Women's Marathon Cardio Day.

At least that's what you might believe if you went to a gym on a typical Monday. Crowds of women use the eliptical trainers, the step machines, and most of all, the treadmills. They move in place in pursuit of their dream bodies at a cadence so slow, it would try the patience of a statue. Some will find the will to do so, week in and week out, starting and ending at virtually the same respective times, every day. These women are truly a testament to dedication.

It's a just a shame those treadmills aren't mobile, because that's the only way most of these ladies will get anywhere.

As Albert Einstein once stated,
"Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result."
It turns out Einstein was talking about the gym runners, because their bodies probably adapted to the marathon cardio sessions after a month or so.

If these hypothetical ladies sound like you, take heart. New results are just a change of pace away. It can be as simple as splitting your cardio between three different machines. Those who want something a bit more advanced can give the following interval sequence a try:

* Jog for 45 seconds
* Sprint for 30 seconds
* Jog for 45 seconds
* Walk for 1 minute

Repeat the sequence 4 times. Add an interval each successive week. But for Heaven's sake, please make a change in your routine. If you think steady-state cardio is all it will take to attain the body of your dreams, you might as well be running in place.

This is total BS and HOW DARE YOU when women work so hard to achieve the body that society (esp. MALE SOCIETY) wants us to have...

Of course I don't buy into that because it is a total lemon sale.

Regardless some idiot will look at this and actually listen to you.

Next time try giving some real advice that won't make you look like the idiot you are!

someone is definitely a hater...and obviously repetitively doing the same workout...hence why she sounds so upset about someone pointing it out the obvious

Directed to the first comment: Open your mind to new things. Just because every other woman in doing endless hours of cardio (the only way it is known to them) doesn't mean it is the right way to do it. Try something new, maybe thats why women don't get the results they want. In addition, he is not forcing you into the size 2 super-model "norm," he's simply exposing you to a new method. Ignorance is not cute!

1. I am not ignorant... A cardio work out such as the treadmill or the elliptical (SP) is key to not only being healthy but also losing weight...

2. You should know that the flaw in medical studies or any other study that tests a hypothesis is that the results can be tweaked to reflect that which is desired.

3. I am not a "hater." Are you telling that is the extent of your vocabulary. That is the only insult you could think of. Then I must say to you: Read a book!

4. I know he is not as you stated forcing you into the size 2 super-model 'norm'" because that would not be possible. I am a size 8 and a beautiful black woman. I am not interested in losing weight but I am happy with my size. Now if he can tell me how to get arms like Vivica Fox or Angela Basset then I am all ears!

Finally...
EVERYTHING ABOUT ME IS "CUTE"
In a way that you can all understand: Don't get it twisted!

...Lets have a civil conversation and communicate like educated women. I respect the fact that you are a size 8 beautiful black woman, which im sure you are. Im not skinny by any standards either, im currently a size 10, and have been a 16 in my past...so I think I would know a bit about losing weight. Although cardio may be the key to your weight loss, it isnt the same for everyone. Cardio was a part of my plan but I felt that weight lifting helped shape me and target problem areas (aka- firmer thighs). Personally, running on a treadmill or treading an elliptical machine wouldnt do much to make me sweat, and would bore me unless I did it in intervals, which is what Brian suggested. In addition, he was also my personal trainer for a few months and I definitely benefited from his style of cardio.

In regaurds to the whole "ignorance" thing...calling him an idiot when he was simply expressing, with well intentions, something that conflicts with your opinion, sounded pretty damn wrong. Im sure you didn't mean it the way you said it ;)
